8.6. System of automatic control of provision of a body

Some models of the car are equipped with system of automatic control of provision of a body which by means of a hydraulic system regulates height of the course of a back suspension bracket. The system has two telescopic racks which are established instead of back shock-absorbers and each of which is connected to the separate accumulator of pressure. Liquid under pressure moves the pump installed on the engine, and height of the course of a back suspension bracket is regulated by the proofreader connected with a bar of the stabilizer of cross stability. Each accumulator of pressure has the gas chamber supporting necessary pressure at suspension bracket deviations.

On engines of model M 110 the hydraulic pump is put in action from the forward end of the camshaft of final valves, and on engines of model M 123 — from the forward end of an intermediate shaft. In case of malfunction of system it has to be checked by the representative of Mercedes since the special equipment for this purpose is required.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. For gas station of system fill in liquid in a tank to a mark of the maximum level, and then start the engine on high turns of idling approximately for 1 min. At the same time a back part of the car has to be loaded weighing two passengers on a back seat or freight of the same weight in a luggage carrier. Stop the engine and add liquid in a tank. At completely loaded car and the working engine its level will fall to the lower mark.
  2. Removal and installation of details of system do not present special difficulties, however any adjustment of height of the course has to be made by the representative of Mercedes.
